GrantSuccess

I am the bald-headed, Miami University professor who stopped by your booth at the Ohio e-Tech Conference to discuss my grant writing system “Grant Success.” Thank you for taking the time to talk with me about my goals and system for successful grant writing.  Every teacher or administrator has the same question…”How am I going to pay for this?”

As we discussed on Monday, I have developed a very efficient system for creating successful grant applications.  This system works particularly well with novice, but eager school district teams. In 2005, 26 Columbus Public School building teams used GrantSuccess to apply for Enhancing Education Through Technology (EETT) funding.  All 26 teams were funded totaling over $3 million.  Below is what I do.

1. I read any grant Request for Funding Proposal (RFP).

2. I reduce the complicated RFP to three, simple pre-writing documents that guide applicants as they complete a grant application.

3. I provide these 3 pre-writing documents to vendors for a fee, or

4. I provide these 3 pre-writing documents to the school building for a fee.

5. These documents include many writing tips that I have presented and published in many venues.

6. I am not limited to Ohio funding opportunities. RFPs are RFPs.

7. I have written over $8 million in successful state, foundation and federal technology integration grants.

Any short-term service for Ohio EETT 2009 can be negotiated with the vendor or school district.

1. I will present on-site training on the 3 pre-writing documents to a district or building grant writing team.

2. I will use Miami and district distance learning technologies/webinars to introduce the pre-writing documents.

3. I will work online with a building or district creating an application using my pre-writing documents.

4. I will work with any grant application text to improve the quality of the submission

Any long-term service takes usually takes these forms:

1) I do executive briefings for ESCs, regions, areas, hosted by vendors interested in provided grant writing service to potential or existing customers.

2) I contract with vendors to work on selected projects and clients to maximize the quality of the grant application. In short, I become a customer service for your company.

GrantSuccess is described in:

1) May, 2004 issue THE Journal

2) Jan, Feb, and March 2008 issues of Technology and Learning Magazine

3) HotChalk.com in the “My Desk” section under the title “Funding 101”

4)  http://performancepyramid.muohio.edu in the “Grant Writing Resources” section of the menu.

Most importantly, in two weeks the Ohio eTech group will release an RFP for 2009 Enhancing Education Through Technology (EETT) funding in Ohio.  Approximately 150 Ohio school buildings will be eligible for over $20 million in EETT funds.  Each building will have between $100,000 and $150,000 available for grant applications targeting increased student achievement in math and reading, K-8 technology literacy, parental engagement, professional development and systemic change.  The RFP and the eligible schools list will be posted on www.etech.ohio.gov/go/eett What makes this opportunity so interesting is that there appear to be no restrictions on which vendors can be used to supply learning management systems and integrated technologies and to schools.  You must be registered with the State of Ohio.

If your sales people target an eligible school or school district, then GrantSuccess can help the grant applicants create a high quality grant application.  In 2005, GrantSuccess put $3.5 million in 26 Columbus Public School buildings.

Here is my immediate plan.

1. When the EETT is released, I will begin the process of analyzing the RFP.

2. I will construct my 3 pre-writing documents.

3. I will contact eligible schools and send them this e-mail.

3. I will make these documents and my grant writing training available for immediate application in Ohio schools.

The 2009 EETT money is No Child Left Behind money.  The Ohio eTech group is charged with identifying eligible schools, reviewing the applications, distributing the funds and evaluating the impact of the grants.  They would like all eligible schools to apply.  They won’t.  They would like all applications to be excellent.  They won’t be.  They would like to distribute the funds to deserving applicants that have clearly expressed their vision, mission, goals, timeline, needs, evaluation process, partnerships and key personnel.  Many needy schools will go without the funding because of the low quality of the applications.  GrantSuccess can help.   My talents and system are best used in specific funding opportunities and as a customer service.

Sincerely.
