Position Summary:
As part of the Finance and Accounting team, the Student Accounts Representative plays an integral part in providing an outstanding student experience. Although a “Gate Keeper” is inherent to the nature of a collection role, here it is done with a velvet glove. A routine collection process occurs while maintaining a high level of student empathy. In concert with timely resolution and collection, this position maintains superior student relations.
Key objectives for this role:
- Works closely with interdepartmental resources while solving student account issues
- Management of student account balances
- Assist in invoicing current and prior term cash pay and/or repeat accounts
- Assist in setting up student payment plans and send email and/or phone call reminders to insure their success
- Run and maintain reports from systems for the purpose of collection and student refunds
- Perform regular follow up and implement collection activities via telephone and email
- Add students’ responses and collection comments to the system
- Respond to students and staff’s inquiries via phone or email
- Process student requests for refunds and verify appropriateness of refund amount
- Manage phone lines for inbound student requests via general phone & personal line
- Assist in other activities as needed
The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred
- High School Diploma required
- Experience working in the accounting department of a school or college preferred
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Must be detail oriented with excellent organizational skills
- Worked closely with a team in a fast-past environment
- Ability to work with a sense of pride and urgency and to adapt and be flexible as priorities change
- Experience with MS Word and Excel required
